I do not like this.....47 points gets you that sort of Cash. My hope of Mikko at 9.5m is basically gone now.

I can see that happening. Especially if he gets another 60+ point season under his belt. It's a little expensive, but he is a key piece to their future and could break out for 70+ point seasons. if they went for a bridge deal and he did, it would end up costing them more.

I like it - its what dubas should have done with marner last off-season. Probably could have gotten him on a 6-7 year deal at 9 mill AAV.

Meh its just AZ being proactive.

Keller is at 110ish points through 2 seasons. Marner and Rantanen were at 120-130. Point was at 110ish. It is probably a smart gamble for AZ.

They aren't paying him on what he's done, they're paying him on what they think he can do. I imagine they think he'll take a huge leap playing on a healthy team with Phil Kessel, and that would probably make him ask for way more.

Teams should be more aggressive with getting start players locked up in advance of their RFA season. I like this deal.

Sophomore slump and a very tight defensive style system for most of the season due to how many injuries they had with kessel coming in and schamltz being healthy he gonna put up 60 points easily next season

But my point is other teams with RFAs arent negotiating on what Keller could be, agents use comps in a what have you done for me lately league. Its good for Keller and the Yotes, but if this starts to cloud the waters for this group of unsigned RFAs, i do not like this move as a fan who has an unsigned RFA

Even if he's just a 20/60 guy, and never make that jump to the level of being truly elite, cap inflation alone will put that deal well below market value in a few years. That said I think he will take that step, as early as this year

avs just did the same move with Girard locking him up for 7 years on a slight over pay now to be a steal later. I get it, its smart business for teams to do this move.
Just wouldnt mind them waiting to do the Keller deal after Mikko was signed, as a selfish homer fan

Overpay now, get yourself an amazing deal from 2021/22 to 2028.

Smart in the long run for ARI, "meh" for the other GMs dealing with current RFAs

is the cold ware is still on? Would steve and joe trade with one another. The fact that stevie had to deal with Claude Lemieux as Nemeths agent, that must have be a tough one.

Edit oh damn, Claude has Moritz Seider as a client too,

Stevie probably doesn't mind having a pet turtle.
