This years roster is set so lets look at next

Created by: Blues4Life
Team: 2020-21 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 4, 2019
Published: Sep. 4, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The way I see it...Only way we can resign both Petro and Schenn is if we trade away one of Bozak/Steen/Allen. To me, Bozak is the easiest spot to fill internally due to Thomas sliding from wing to center.

If Fabbri is still a 975k player in a year he won’t be in the organization

The cap should go up a little, but yeah it won't work with all of them. I feel like Schenn will move on. He probably saw how much Kevin Hayes signed for and will look to hit FA. Unless the Blues can convince him that the 2C spot is his (Robert Thomas is the writing on the wall), I bet another team will give him a better fit.

Contracts look good, but I'd hope for 5-6 yrs for Petro at that number. Don't wanna be stuck with a late-30s cap disaster.

This is true, either he gets back to being a middle six scorer or he falls by the wayside. He's not gonna reinvent himself as a 13th forward.

I think he’ll at least show something this year, but he’s likely out if he’s anything like last.

If Hayes is worth 7.1m in FA, Schenn is at least 9.5 tears of joy I can definitely see a team paying at least Hayes money for Schenn's services. You think Petro will fall off a cliff like most around 35?

Not sure about how drastic his decline will be - he doesn't get lined up very often with big hits and doesn't lay them either - but every player declines. Would be nice for everyone involved to raise the AAV in an effort to reduce the term. For me, 9.75 x 5 is a better deal than 8.25x8 or something like that.

Makes sense. Term is more expensive than AAV nowadays with the cap going up pretty considerably each season

imo keep bozak for his UFA year as a self-rental, promote thomas to 2C, let schenn walk. 32-ish million to sign thomas, binnington, kyrou, blais, schwartz would be very tight.

i think dunn takes more money and a shorter term (probably something around 6m x 5y) and hopefully pietro takes something closer to 9m x 6y because the last three years of that contract look middle school dance bad.
