I am not a big fan of Vatanen, but he is a serviceable top 4 right handed D-man that can lead a PP. He has some value. The problem was, still is, that the Devils D-core is weak and one-dimensional: Subban, Severson, Butcher, Vatanen, and possibly Smith this year are all offensively minded D-men. Last year that forced Vatanen and Butcher to play in more defensive situations that they aren't really meant for and PK time.

I know is value but in this case for laine vatanen as absolutely no value in that trade. I mean if they trade laine it won’t be for a 28 years old defenseman.
