If krug is ready to take a discount

Created by: Bruinsforlife
Team: 2019-20 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 5, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
He said to the media he was ready to take a discount to stay with Boston, maybe what 750k less so to me he could sign a 7M 7 years with Boston
That means we will have him and grezlyck on the left side next year and that mean that we don’t need thar much of vaak because he’s likely to be in the top4 in minimum 2 years
We could trade him to get rid of Backes and get a top 6 player and let Lauzon to be the top6 lhd with Moore next year

Maybe let's focus on this year's cap work than next year
Everything besides the NJ deal works.

Don't move Vaakanainen. When Chara will be gone, he will be the 1LD. Vaak-McAvoy will be one of the best pairings in the league.
Can't trade Backes in a win-win trade. Salary dump, that's it. Or even if do it, it's not this trade and it would be much more complex.

Serious question: Can you name a player under 30 who took a discount? and then can you prove he took a discount?

Ok that is a discount. I'm curious about 3 teams in one season but he did match his best season points wise in 6 less games. That can't be easy playing for 3 different teams.

10 points in 16 games with MTL. He could have get more than 2M, but MTL wasnt ready so he tooks a discount to stay with the Habs

depends on the definition of discount. Weal only played 16 games, not 54 lol

It's normal he gets low $, he has had one good season/stretch of games. That doesn't really count.

But he was UFA and could get way more on the market.

Super duper rate. But apparently McDavid did. He was gonna get like 13.5 mil.

Tavares took less to go to Toronto than San Jose was offering. Not sure if that's a discount or just wanting to go somewhere else more.

so does pretty much every UFA who was better the season before lol

it's not like Weal wanted/deserved $3-4M and got $1,4M

Take the Labanc's deal as a discount but Weal's gap is too low to be considered a discount

Why would Krug take 7 x 7 when Trouba got 7 x 8? Krug is way better then Trouba any day. Doubt he takes anything less then the Trouba deal.

I don't really think he did. He's just had a unique career projectors where he reached another level right after he signed his 3rd contract

Labanc
Meier (more so price term and him being an RFA still at the end of the deal all as one)
McDavid took a “discount” to help the team but a discount from 14 mil or whatever -> 12.5 isn’t crazy
Erik Karlsson (his first contract)

Too name a few

id still rather let krug walk for easy cap relief than try and figure out a way of making him fit thru trades that can back fire, especially if gryz is ready to take over top4 minutes and be a pp specialist (which i think he is ready already)

He was coming off an 85 point season where he nearly was a 40/40 guy. It was his 2nd season with 35+ goals and he signed for just over $6 million lol. People were talking about him getting $8+ million on the open market lol.

Wait I checked. This isn't true.

He signed before the 2016 season started (during the world Cup of hockey).

He signed coming off a 37 goal but 61 point season and one year removed from 42 points.

That 61 points and 37 goals were both career highs and he was already 28.

It wasn't a discount. He exploded after

Your right im a year early. Even still the year before the 42 it was 53 and before that he was on pace for 65 with 30+ goals if not for the lockout shortened season. His numbers even before he exploded made him worth more. Again people were taking about $8+ million on the open market. From day one people said he signed a team friendly deal.

Not a discount, he said a pay cut. If he actually does mean a pay cut, that would mean less money than he’s making now.
