Finally. After the news of Marleau not returning I felt this was next. Good news for the Sharks.

As a hockey fan it would be nice to see Joe get a cup, but as a Flames fan I hope it's not with the Sharks...

Good contract for San Jose and for Joe. They are paying him like a 3rd-4th line tweener, when he will probably put up more points than his age, which at 40 is actually a good number. A great value deal for the role of 2/3C.

Wish they'd sign Marleau too, but at least they have this. That's where he belongs.

Contract's quite reasonable too. He's lost a step (like any player at 40), but still produces solid numbers.

Good signing and when you think about it a player that scored as much as he did would probably be paid more then that to so great signing

I’m so glad they passed on Marleau. There are some young guys who have put in the work and deserve a chance (Alex True and Ivan Chekhovich) Marleau will always be a shark but he’ll get better opportunities elsewhere like Edmonton or Arizona.

The Sharks should've moved on IMO; Time to get younger on the roster.

No team wants Marleau, when he gets his agent to ask for one last big contract. Every GM knows the Leafs owed him 4.5 million cash, his buyout got him 3.8 million back to him, so when he asks for 1-2 million all the GM's are like WHAT!!! you want to be the first buyout player to earn more money ? than original contracted. If he accepted 700K he would be a Shark.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, Joe is a fantastic (and has been for his entire career) but the Sharks need to get younger.

Sharks should have signed both Patty and Jumbo for 1M each. Fair deals imo and would've had both in the fold. I know they need to get younger, but they also need forwards. And as a Leafs fan, will be weird seeing him in anything other than blue or teal.

16 goals, 51pts for $2mil? thats a steal! The sharks lack depth, and this helps greatly, otherwise Goodrow (7g,17pts) is your 3rd line center. They dont have many top prospects up front, so let them earn it. Gambrell is the only one who played pro last year- still plenty of ice time for him.

I mean, they're slightly older than the average, but Jumbo being 40 is bringing that average age way up, they've only got 5 players 30+ (2F, 2D, 1G) on the roster right now.
