Team: 2019-20 Chicago Blackhawks
Team Explanation
which player/ contract would you prefer. Seabs gets a lot of hate for the contract. i'm curious to see which one is worse as of today. i personally think seabs still brings something to the team that is of value (not 6.8m of value though).

with the contract being apart of this decision? extra 2 years with an additional million on the cap.

That's fair, but Weber is also a much better player right now. He'll probably play at this level, barring serious injury, for the next couple of seasons.

Weber can still handle top pair minutes. Seabrook can barely handle the NHL. It isn't even close.

I agreee Shea is better today for sure. withthe injury thing, shea has played 84 games over the past 2 years. Seabs hasen't really missed any.

Weber 101 times out of 100, seabs is the worst contract in the NHL by far

Not agree with that, with the okposo, kesler, lucic, erikson, andrew ladd, there a few candidates for the palm. But i think lucic is worst. Seabrook despite playing defense add 8 more point then lucic. Seabrook is just pay like
A top defenceman but still can play 18-20 minutes a game. Lucic is in the nhl only because of is nmc because if it where he add been in ahl past 2 season

Weber's contract will be an albatross eventually, but right now he is the better of the two players.

I can say the same thing as Seabrook though. He has an NMC and if not for that he would be in the AHL or retired.

Didn't Seabrook also get healthy scratched a couple times this past season too?

Come on have you watch Chicago game before saying that. Even if he fairly overpaid he still is nhl caliber defenseman. I mean he isn’t the 22 minutes top shutdown defenseman he use to be but still can gave chicago 18-19 minutes a game. Seabrook case is more that the values for is attributions aren’t right now. Not that he cannot play no more. At 2,5 millions a season he would be a good players to have. Lucic is useless even a 1 millions he can’T skate no more.

weber and it's not even close. when he retires at 35/36 and chicago gets hit with a portion of the cap recapture penalty, that totally lost money will be more valuable to the team than a dressed seabrook.

seabrook is 1.7 wins below replacement. if you could jettison him into the sun and replace him with literally any AHL call-up, chicago would win almost two more games than they did last season. he's bad.

hot take--i'd rather have lucic's contract on my books than seabrook's.

I would take seabrook anytime over lucic contract. I still think that he have more utilized right now then lucic would have. And just before thing goes out of proportion i agree in first place that seabrook contract was bad, but not the worst.

He was once a great d-man but age caught up to him pretty quickly...
And your bias is speaking now.

They are worth the same in value to me. Both players are stuck in the old NHL and their advanced stats show it.

Seabrooke add never add great advanced stats number. So this isn’t a good stats to bring in, he always plays a shutdown role so its likely that is number a negative like most shutdown defenseman. And i could said the same thing for you for the bias thing. This is bullshat. You don’t like seabrook so you bias is speaking now ??. Yes he a slowed down but he still managed to get around 30 point with a decrease ice time. With the proper use around 18 minutes a game he still can play nhl. They are worst defenceman in the league right now.
Its just the salary that isn’t right
