If you are stupid and pair Gardiner with Faulk yes, any smart Coach will pair him with Pesce and you would be surprised.....

This signals two things - no Faulk extension and they don’t have confidence Fleury turns into a top 4 defensemen.

Guessing you see Faulk and a bottom 6 forward moved for a middle 6 Right shot forward and some draft assets and/or prospects.

Agree 100%. Needs someone good in the defensive zone and to cover for some poorly timed pinches. Gardiner is excellent at stopping zone entry and terrific with the puck on his stick.
