Dubas should have played dirty too, he could have used threats on offer sheet another team's star RFA, told Marner if he isn't signed before Aug, than the offers would stop, tell the media he was activate in trade talks if not signed by Sep 1. If Marner missed training camp, he'll sit out the season. If Dubas did those dirty mind games too, Marner would have signed by now.

Rookie GM mistake. He keeps making them.

Don't see TOR being able to do that. They need Marner, he's their best winger by far, points and game-wise.

If Marner's gone, that team starts to look like an enchanced EDM with great centers but mediocre wingers and d-men. Barely a playoff team.

The idea of Toronto trading Marner and then offer-sheeting another RFA is very intriguing to me

Most likely the team of the player TOR is hypothetically offer sheeting for is going to match any offer out of spite - unless they make a crazy overpayment which makes the whole idea of trading Marner quite pointless.

Yes they do. You need to have at least 4 picks in the next 5 years which they do

The reports are the Leafs offered $9.5M already for a bridge. Marner should take that but no way should he sign $9.5M for 6 years. $10M for 6 years and $11M for 8....$9.5M for 3 or 4 years.

The bigger issue is the Leafs defense this season and next and they'll be capped strapped both this season and next....nobody to blame but Leafs management for that.

This is exactly what everyone said prior to the Barrie trade. I guess that should he blamed on TO management as well?

Shall we go through the list of mistakes in the last 12 months or just focus on the 1 good one move of getting Barrie for a 1 year rental; that's of course if you think Leafs actually have a chance to get beyond the 1st round making that Barrie acquisition a good thing otherwise it's a waste. If the Leafs handle Marner like Nylander and Marner doesn't sign till December, they'll be headed for another disapointing season and nobody, well maybe you, will be talking about the 1 year rental Barrie.

You're forgetting they added Kerfoot in that deal, solid 40 point centre. Getting rid of Zaitsev was another great trade, and Marner being greedy isn't Dubas's fault

Call every move Dubas made a mistake all you want. At the end of the season, 1000% TO is a way better team than Chicago. Speaking of GM's with a past littered with mistakes. Lol

Not the best idea trying to trash talk a team or their GM "with a past littered with mistakes" when said team and GM have a past littered with 3 Stanley cups...

Stupidity to even try to compare Dubas to the Bowman; who I'm not a huge fan of. HOWEVER, since you brought it up, Bowman has 2 cups under his belt and how many consecutive playoff seasons and how many total playoff wins? Dubas has how many cups and playoff wins? I think it's zero right?

And the Leafs aren't 1000% better. I'll take the Hawks defense and goaltending any every of the week over the Leafs this season. Forwards, Leafs have the edge but Toews, Kane, Debrincat, Strome, Dach, Saad, Shaw aren't too shabby either.

A better defence? Rielly, Barrie and Muzzin are superior to anyone you currently have on the roster. Dermott is up there as well. Chicago allows a tonne of goals but has a sick defence......right.

Keith, Gus, Maatta, De Haan, Murphy, Seabs, Boqvist is a better defensive 7 then Toronto has in the lineup. If you don't think that's true then I don't know what tell you. Chicago was in limp mode for multiple reasons LAST SEASON on defense and goalie which is why they gave up a ton of goals. Crow was out most of the year, our starter was Ward who's now retired and look at the defensive pairings Chicago was working with...guys like Rutta, Forsling, Dahlstrom...totally different this season.

And you avoided my response to your dumb comment...how many playoff wins does Dubas have verses Bowman? How many cups? Yeah...Toronto is 1000% better LMAO

Dubas been a GM for 1 season and is leading the 3rd youngest team in the NHL. All these "mistakes" are just non Leaf fan hope they turn out to be mistakes. "Matthews is going to leave in 5 years", "Nylander is only a 60 point winger and nothing else.", "Rielly and Barrie can't defend" the team is deep, fast, young and hungry. But keep hoping it all blows up, seems weird to want that more than for your own team to be good
