What part doesn't make sense? If the Kings trade one of Campbell or Quick, Seattle will likely take the other in the expansion draft, leaving them without an NHL-caliber goaltender to back up Petersen in 2021-22.

I REALLY LIKE THIS. ALL OF IT -- especially the part where you predict that Grundstrom and Wagner will be home runs.

Some people just aren't deep thinkers.

Quick should be traded for some assets this season, LA should be tearing it down and moving out the old guard and recouping the best picks/prospects they can get.

If Seattle takes one of Campbell or Peterson then sign a backup in free agency or maybe by then a goalie prospect has mstarted to establish themselves as ready for backup duties. The Kings took Campbell as a reclamation project and have turned him around did they not? I'm sure they could do that again with someone else.

Eh, it was more like I needed the Kings to get to the salary floor, but sure that works too.

The person responsible for turning Campbell around has left the organization and is now a professional goaltending coach in Europe. I wouldn't bank on that happening again.

Sure, if a trade comes along that blows the Kings away, I'm all for trading quick. However, the Kings shouldn't retain salary or pay to move him, and it sounds like there's not a lot of teams willing to give up anything of value for a goaltender on the wrong side of 30 with injury history and 4 years remaining on his contract. I'd rather keep him than sell low.
