Awful deal for Minnesota. The only thing of value is the 1st. But taking a whole lot of trash back.

Parise is in a weird position where no matter what is given, from negative value to other cap dumps it still looks bad. If this contract had three years term left on it, this would work alright, but the decline on it in the last three years would be terrible. This will be the league's worst contract in three years.

The penguins might be interested in this...................in 3 years, when they are out their window and rebuilding and could use the 1st round pick you are attaching to it for them taking him!

Parise's contract is worse than Johnson's, no thanks, rather just wait until the 2020 season and buy him out

I think Pittsburgh and Minnesota could be good trading partners in that Minnesota gets a rebuilding package that includes Petterson and Pittsburgh gets Spurgeon with retention, Zucker.

That would be a framework for a deal with perhaps Minnesota including Greenway and Pittsburgh includes a pick...something to that effect.

The idea is that Pittsburgh gets one more serious run at the cup and Minnesota gets picks and a top prospect for a rebuild.

@TanSor what do you think? Good trading partners?

Not super sure whether or not we'd be good trade partners. On one hand, Pittsburgh has some right shot forwards (which we need) but none are very young. I also don't think Guerin will want to move Zucker since he was on one of the teams that tried to acquire him. Guerin has also said he wants to re-sign Spurgeon, but even if they can't agree on a contract Pittsburgh already has Schultz and Letang so Spurgeon is a bit redundant. I'd be fine with moving Spurgeon for picks/prospects, but Pittsburgh's picks will likely all be late ones and their prospect pool is pretty barren and I think Guerin would want a higher-end prospect for Spurgeon. Not sure if Peterson is high-end enough or not, I really haven't seen him play that much, plus we don't have a major need for a LD right now unless Guerin decides to move Brodin.
