To me (at least) the Ducks having an internal cap should be enough to dissuade an overpayment for a (albeit very good) one-dimensional player. Unless the plan is to acquire both Laine AND Faulk to make a legitimate run at the damn thing, I can't see the Ducks stealing another brilliant, young Finn from Winnipeg.

At the same time though, it's Anaheim stealing another bright, young Finn from Winnipeg and as an Oilers fan I'm addicted to schadenfreude (wheeeeee divisional games against Laine for the next decade wheeeeeee) so yeah it's probably happening.

Only way I could see this happening is sending Rakell (or Kase plus Larsson or Mahura) back the other way, which doesn't appeal to me.

Who knows; a couple of days ago rumours had Laine going to the Devils, then it was the Islanders, now it's the Ducks.
