A Shocking Move after Hawks miss the playoffs

Created by: ChiHawk
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 9, 2019
Published: Sep. 9, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Strome keeps pace from last year and has a 60 point 22 goal season but Dach and Barratt both look especially strong in their development and Kampf takes another step not to mention Entwhistle looks solid to back up Kampf as the 4C. Lastly Jake Wise is still developing. Hawks need to let one of the centers go and Strome is the guy in exchange for the first line LW the Hawks have needed. Kubalik does well in the 19/20 season but Turbo is a big upgrade to any of the Hawks younger guys and the chemistry with Kane is still alive.

Hawks keep Boqvist and Beaudin in the minors to develop. Boqvist's defensive game is still not ready and Beaudin is close but needs another year, both are only 20 at this point. Ian Mitchell, a year older, is a more steady defender and has grown into his size already so Hawks bring him up in place of seabs on the 3rd line. Gilbert proves he's ready, he's close today, but he gets the call up to play with Mitchell. Seabs is the 7th man.

Dach and Kurashev have chemistry together after prospect camps, and prospect tournament. Kurashev is looking like a pleasant surprise. Hawks decide to keep both of them together paired with Debrincat as the line sniper. Nylander doesn't outplay Kubalik for a spot in the 19/20 season and with Kurashev being a big surprise, Nylander is traded. Saarela, Hagel, and Sikura all fight for the rotating forward position as the 13th forward.

Saw dach play with Saskatoon last winter, and heard the name before as a potential first rounder, definitely got size, hands, decent with the puck. I’m not sure what to call on him, being the next Dylan strome type development or Dubois and instantly ready, top end two c or top end talent of the league, maybe that’s the basement and the ceiling for him any thoughts?

I think he has all the tools but his biggest glaring holes are his acceleration (first one or two steps) and defensively he needs to work a bit more. He's close to being ready but give him another year. I think he's going to be an extremely good 2c/3c in the league. I don't buy it that he's a 1C yet.

Perfect home, fly on the wall with toews, and first hand experience with some struggles that strome went through

Teravainen would have to have a terrible year for Carolina to consider that trade.

A 60 point center with 22 goals and 27 point winger with 15 goals fills two spots 87 points and 37 goals vs. Turbo 21 goals and 76 points.

Don't think it's that far off given one of the guys is a center.

with that logic, ottawa could trade chris trieney, a guy who scored 9g and 48p, bobby ryan, 15g 42p, mikkel boedker, 7g 35p, and magnus paajarvi, 11g 19p, for mcdavid

My opinion is that Strome won't get traded. I think Until Toews Retires, it will be Toews, Strome, and Dach as the 3 centers. Dach can also play wing.

the penguins wouldn't trade Rust for Saad. They already have their own cap issues, they don't need yours too

I’m still convincing myself that Dach will be RW2 next to Strome in 20/21 or even RW3 in 19/20 with Shaw or Smith at 3C. Preferably Shaw but we all know he could be RW2 as well.

Saad isn't a cap dump and he's a better player then Galchenyuk which the Pens would loose.

And none of those guys are a 2C that put up 22 goals and 60 points.

The cap for when he leaves is already spent. They have to sign Murray, McCann, Kahun.....they don't have money for Saad.

You missed the point and that's okay. It's not all about points...clearly. A winger typically doesn't have as much value as a center...everyone knows that. A 74 point winger vs. a 60 point center is not that far off; hence nylander being added to balance it. That's fair value if nylander is indeed a 27 point winger over a fraction of a season.

Nowhere did I say points is ALL that matters but it does count towards something...point totals in a trade are considered.
