I wouldn't be so sure there's 0 chance Staal is traded. Fenton was the one who re-signed him, not Guerin, so if the Wild go belly-up this season Staal could be on the move. That being said, I don't think we'd make this trade. For one, if we do go belly-up, moving Staal for a rental doesn't really make sense since the point of rentals is to bolster your roster for the playoffs. The Wild are in a similar situation to Carolina with our RD, so there isn't any room for Faulk in the top 4 unless we trade Spurgeon. Even if Spurgeon is demanding a crazy amount of money and we do end up trading him, we could probably just sign Faulk in the offseason instead of giving up assets for him as a rental.
