Who's voting no? Sure, he hasn't played up to 6OA but he's a useful player.

I like this deal for the Devils as they overpay a bit up front (when they have room) and it could be a real bargain if he still finds his offensive game and lives up to the billing of his draft position. It's also a pretty tradable contract if he continues to stagnate in Jersey as I expect a number of teams would take a chance on him at $2.25M

Good prove it contract with decent cap hit. He should put up 30+ points this year and 40+ points in years 2 and 3. QO at the end will be *relatively* low too.

Agreed. It's not like he's getting 6OA money either. This is a good contract.

this is structured similarly to meiers deal. low salaries in the first 2 years and then a high salary at the end for a larger QO. all these deals are being structured the same. almost none of them are team friendly deals.

a 3M QO for him isnt bad. even if he doesnt reach his ceiling as a former 6th oa pick he is still already a good top 9 forward who can kill penalties

I think this is a steal. Zacha has shown flashes of his potential but just needs consistency. He will be well sheltered with Hughes, Hirscher, and Zajac as fellie centers

No one is more relieved than Zacha. Yea he can threaten KHL but after the NHL, he really doesn't want play in that league.

Anyone who thinks this contract is too expensive hasn't watched any Devils games. He's one of their best defensive forwards and penalty killers and he could have a breakout offensive season now that the Devils are better offensively. I still see him as a 20-20-40 guy in the near future.

It's hard to imagine what the holdout was all about. Everyone had Zacha signing a 2-3 year bridge deal and the money sounds like a little less than people were expecting. Maybe he was looking for a long term deal...But that was never gonna happen.

Too bad he doesn't play on the Wing. Too much depth at Center for the Devils.
