I definitely don't disagree! I have seen a bunch of Vegas ACGM but no one ever adds Coghlan. I personally think he has one of the best chances to land a top 6 role of all the defensive prospects.

I've heard Whitecloud has stood out in the prospect games as well. I'd rather have either of those two over Schuldt or Hague and I've got high hopes for Hague. They just desperately need another right handed dman on the roster seeing as the only one they have there right now could end up being the 7th man out throughout the season.

There's no question that Coghlan is the front runner right now, but still early. The real test starts Friday. I think there may be a bit of a carousel of d-men to start the year....a few guys may get 9 game trials before a decision is made re who stays. And of course, there's still injuries that will come in to play. But you gotta love what Coghlan is doing so far.

I see Coghlan more of a 2017/18 Brad Hunt type, a 7/8 defenseman, but some playing time due to his PP play. But not against him on the 23

They should carry 8 Dmen this year,

Theodore Schmidt
McNabb Whitecloud
Schuldt Engelland
Merrill Coghlan

Bury Holden, let him run with Hague in the Ahl. Merrill Engelland and Holden are all pending UFAs. This also allows you to see if the young guys are ready.

Not a horrible idea, but that would almost assure that Glass stays in Chicago this year, making Zykov the odd forward out. If Glass doesn't impress enough to snatch his spot, I'd be behind it.

Agreed. This is assuming no Glass, only because I think they want him centering the top line for the Wolves.

Actually I personally would have Glass as my LW3, to allow him to get the NHL speed this year, since Eakin is a pending FA as well, make Pirri the 13th F and send Zykov to The Wolves.

Haha Vegas doesn't have a good history of sending Russians to Chicago. The other problem is that they would have to stash him there at the beginning of the season and hope no one gets hurt. He's been picked off of waivers once, can't guarantee that it won't happen again.

You’re right, you have to hope, but probably a chance I would take. He was actually claimed 2x last year, but I still take the chance. If they send him to Chicago he really isn’t part of their future anyway. I kinda expect his 20/21 season to be in the KHL myself.
