During the season Leaf fans thought he could do no wrong, now he isn't worth what he has earned...

Unless its a trade proposal, then suddenly he has value to Leaf fans again.

He hasnt earned to be anywhere near Matthews. Thats just plain wrong. You can say he has high trade value and that he is not worth anything close to superstar goalscoring centerman at the same time.

I guess I just get caught up on the 21 extra points he got.

Yeah, I mean.. he played with one of the best centermen in the league and all of a sudden 25 point rise.. how unexpected.. Matthews was playing with 4th liners and 3rd liner whole year and had above ppg and almost 40 goals in less than 70 games.

Few questions.. How is his ppg in last 3 years compared to Matthews? Is Mitch playing center? Is Mitch scoring on 45-goal a season rate each year? Is Marner leader? Is Marner on the Matthews level? Each of these questions is an easy easy NO and PPG one is that Matthews is better. "BuT hE hAd 94 PoInTs.."

Tavares also had a career year, including a 10g jump. At some points this season people were crediting that to playing with Marner, and that Marner was the best Leaf forward. Its funny how things change during contract negotiations.

If Leafs don't want to pay him, someone else will. Considering how much Leaf fans dislike him at the moment, I don't see why they get so heated when other teams want him. Leaf fans need to do themselves a favour, and just ignore contract BS. Having the fanbase turn on him isn't really a great scenario (but I admit, the second he is extended the fans will suddenly forget all the "greedy" comments they made and he is god again).

Dude Marner just turned down 7 x 11 from the Leafs, So ask me why he would agree to 5 x 11 from Montreal then?

So Marner said no to 7 x 11 from the Leafs, But would agree to a 5 x 11 OS from the Habs. Yeah don't think so.

That could be true. But the 2 year difference on term matters. So I don't think anyone can claim that until he turns down a 5 year deal.

I heard he wants the same deal as Matthews, Doubt he really wants long term. Probably wants to make it to UFA status.
