Not great not bad. Fiala still needs to prove he can produce consistently, hopefully he can cause Minnesota really needs all the scoring they can get.

I think everyone is happy with this deal. Fiala gets a decent paycheck, and MIN signs someone under 30 years old.

He was supposed to be a star by now. He started off his career like he'd be an All-Star by 21. Now, he's been traded from contender to pretender when the Reds could've kept him at a low AAV. Maybe Poile didn't like something about Fiala.

So far, I like him, but I remain cautiously optimistic. He still has a season of him handling trades, the deadline, and the draft. This signing is definitely a good sign, though (pun intended) and he has certainly said all of the right things publicly so far.

What do you think of 2.5 then 3.5 though?
I dont know if I like this trend.

Columbus did same with Werenski.

It's because the salary in the final year becomes the qualifying offer after the deal expires, or at least that's how I understood it. Even if Fiala never really breaks out and becomes a career 40-50p player, having a qualifying offer of $3.5M is solid if it comes down to Fiala accepting that.

As a Wild fan I don't like it. Nashville was not a team overloded with offense last year, maybe they traded a future star for the Cup run but I doubt it. Fiala is a turnover machine. Plus/minus is a subjective stat but way too high last year if you are creating goals. He gave the opposing team too many quality chances. I think Fenton traded Granlund for a player that hopefully becomes Granlund. Being a former Nashville employee he overvalue Fiala based on when they first scouted him. Hope I'm wrong, but at least we got Rask to carry the team. . I think Fenton will pay for this.....oh wait he's unemployed and still making more than almost all us Wild fans, guess the joke on us. Anyone hiring a new GM, I'll send a resume.

This guy loves double OT goals!
But seriously, good signing, I think he could definitely put up 60 points at some point and will at least put up 40-50 this year.
