Leafs would prefer a younger package coming back so the kings aren't likely unless they are trying to stick it to marner

I don't think the kings are willing to retain 5.5 million dollars for 8 years AND add pieces to make up the value gap (people don't realise just how bad a year doughty had).

He had ROUGH year but so did the whole Kings team.. Id take Doughty at 8x8 (so 3m retention). He is still one of the best Dmen there is..

No he isn't.
I wasn't kidding when I said people don't realise JUST HOW BAD Doughty was. This wasn't just a normal down year bad, it was oh **** he was just above replacement level and he is getting best d in the league money for the next decade.

He is still one of the best. He had bad numbers last year. Very very very bad year, but with Rielly as his pair he would be great. People fastly forget how good he is..

The problem is that he is on the wrong side of the age curve and appears to be in sharp decline already, rather than just having a blip of a down year. I would not take a doughty contract without some serious throw ins by the kings including 50% ret if marner was the piece going back

I agree with Random. Teams would be wise to stay away from Kopitar and Doughty for their long term play and contract. Plus they aren't waiving for the East Coast.

he is the best d man in the national hockey league. He was on a horrible team this year, and honestly, I think he phoned it in a bit in the second half. Now, that's not a good thing. It's very out of character, and is meant as a slight. Maybe he wasn't healthy. When healthy, he is the best d man on the planet, and I don't think anyone is particularly close.

I am a big doughty fan and I hope you are right, but I am far from the only one worried and most of them are smarter people than me.

RB: "Kopitar for Marner?"
KD: "Nahh I don't think so."
RB: "How about we thrown in a 3rd rounder."
KD: "Let's do it!"

It's like the extra 7th round pick that gets thrown into trades. Always got a good laugh at those

Great pic! It's getting me stoked for the season. Enjoy Barrie, it'll be like having Morgan Reilly twice.

I'm more worried that it's like having what people think gards actually is, that being said it is a huge position of need and I am hella excited... At least I will be once this Mitch **** is over

He has been a bit of a liability. Last season he wasn't so much, especially in the playoffs. Being on a line with Muzzin (and possibly Dermott if he is playing left side) will help a lot with that. I know how you feel though. I am waiting on Rantanen.
