Description
My choice for the 7 rookies who I think will lead the Calder race. Order kinda matters, but more so who do you think is a dark horse to win it (Hughes x2, Kakko are obvious choices but who’s lesser known to win)? I’m saying batherson should put up a good fight (hoping he debuts this year).

I forgot about Glass, he’s a good choice.

I don’t personally think Brännström debuts this year maybe for 20 games but not eligible but **** me I could be wrong

Is that ranked from top to lowest, or just a general list of your top picks. Having watched some of the rookie tournament games, I can tell you Kaapo Kakko is a beast, and he should be at the top of everyone's list. The kid had an unbelievable tournament. Add Cody Glass to the list as well. He should be a top-5 consideration.

Also, don't count out the Canes rookies. I think Martin Necas and Jake Bean are going to have big years.

Adam Fox and Vitali Kravtsov don't get enough credit because they're on the same team as Kakko.

Top to bottom but as said order doesn’t fully matter, like Kakko I think is amazing. Although every says Hughes has a higher ceiling I’ve always liked Kakko and hold him “above” Hughes; if you know what I mean. I really like Kakko. Necas is a great choice and I did forget glass but I put him in for the more “hyped” Poehling from all of Quebec. I think Comtois or Steel can impress as well

Hughes may have the hype, I get it, especially as a #1 overall pick, but Kaapo, beyond just hype, is putting his supporting evidence together with his play on the ice. Mind you, it was just a rookie tournament, but he was amazing.

Oh yeah 100% we gotta wait preseason will be a better inside look. But kakkos size is nice but he plays like he isn’t “big” he’s got that little finesse. He reminds of Meier a guy who’s got a big frame and game but plays with little finesse and moves that kinda make you think he can’t play hard but man Meier can. And man I hope Kakko can do the same. I think Europe is putting out a lot of great talent, Finland is looking scary for upcoming World Cup/ olympics

I just enjoy the fact that every season it seems, and since the new CBA, the rookie class has impressed, and that trend should continue. There are a bunch of high-flying kids on the Swedish team, Holtz and Raymond. They look like sure-bet NHLers.

I know everyone say Lafreniere but I heard from a few OHL guys that have seen him in the Q or played himI know through friends etc that Alexis is absolutely incredible. Like they’ve seen A lot of team Canada’s juniors from the Q or O etc and all say this kid is unreal for his youth. Could just be my Canadian biased but I think if he continues whoever gets first is gonna have a hell of a pick and same with 2nd-5th maybe even later too this draft is gonna he fun.

It's going to be a great draft. At least the top 15 or so. Lots of great talent from Canada, US and abroad. Lots of speed. And it will good seeing a bunch of Canadians called in the top-5. I like Lafreniere a lot. I just think he needs to get a bit bigger to handle bigger more mature defenders, which don't really exist in the Q.

USAU18 program or whatever it’s called where Hughes and basically the whole ****ing last draft is from; is a great program I mean **** USA cause theyre Canada’s rivals but joking aside they’re crushing it. Whatever they’re doing every program can learn from because that last draft was a real bright spot for USA Hockey

And I expect the trend to continue. You are referring to the USHL and US National Program of course. Yeah, it's great.
