For DeAngelo, I like 2 years @ 3.2 million AAV.
For Lemieux, 900k 1 year.

And that puts them over the cap with a 21 man roster. Rangers sure have a lot of dead money that really affects their cap. Trading Smith at 50% would save another 1m

Rangers may not have been the 1st team to buyout a player from their contract, Shattenkirk was just signed 2 years ago?
Like WTF.

Now they want to maybe bury Smith too.

IMO their GM needs to be on hot seat, I'd even fire him.
Hes all over the place direction wise.

I feel bad for NYR, as a Jets fan I feel like Morrissey really made that Trouba contract extra expensive. I hope he plays up to his contract but I think you guys will be disappointed.

If I was Chevy, I'd be watching NYR's every move and OS Lemieux out of there. If you guys manage to get ADA signed for 2x3.2. I'd send Lemieux an OS at 2x1.395 just under the tier where they have to give up a pick.

This also would most likely mean WPG trades Laine, or moves Perreault as a cap dump.

I never understood all the love that Sather seemed to enjoy in New York. He really hasn't been successful as an NHL executive since 1990. And new GM Gorton as you have suggested seems to be put the out of the playoff Rangers in cap hell for this year and next.

DeAngelo is better than Poink, he should get more.
On what basis should DeAngelo accept even less than Poink?

Do you think Poink had leverage on the Jets? He was an RFA too.

Hilarious! He tried to right the ship, hoping Smith would be a Klein and Shat would shine with McD. Turns out, the wheels had already started falling off the them and the team. So the cost is cap and pride. Now when teams fall, they slowly gather assets while floundering. Gorton went all out and revamped the future in no time flat! So now here we are with skilled kids all over the map and dead cap. Tight on cap in year 1 & 4, 4-9m extra in year 2 & 3. That's without overpaying Kreider and trading or buying out the squeezed out King. We have a year to flip a few players for more kids. We could retain on 3 salaries; Hank, Kreider, Names, Fast, Strome or maybe Buch, ADa. In Gorton we trust

Hilarious!
Now I appreciate the young prospects the Rangers have. Still doesn't mean there is big cap issues this year and next.

I do appreciate the fact that Rangers have good prospects. I did suggest factually that Rangers have cap issues this year and next.

These are the exact same numbers I used on a recent AGM that rangers fans said "no" to.
