Tough to swallow both ways, but I think it’s interesting

Seth Jones is better than Marner. When you factor in Jones' contact he's way more valuable than Marner too.

Have to replace jones minutes as a group, and marner replaces panarin X factor, what colombus is missing, but obviously just an opinion

Ceci is a cap dump. The difference between Marner and Jones in this scenario is enough money to go sign an impact UFA and be ahead. Easy no for Columbus.

Even though i think the value is solid i think i wouldnt want to lose jones for marner jones is a future norris worthy player if healthy and then to add on wennberg and only get ceci id be hoping in this deal for maybe someone like sandin or something for the future like that if possible but then the value goes all over the place any chance you would take werenski in place of jones.

Like the thought and originally was thinking lilligren over Ceci, but kind of a matching cap move, I personally wouldn’t make the trade and I load up my top 4 blueline over much else, but a talent like panarin, marner, don’t come around all that easy and to get a deal done, it’s going to be controversial and tough on both sides

value wise a deal around Jones for Marner is something I actually like for both teams. CBJ gets a young star to keep building around and Toronto gets a legit top pairing d-man that plays the right side. I think the tough part is moving on from Jones. Legit #1 RHD at his age are near impossible to find and that's why I think CBJ says no.

Especially 3 more years of bargain contract and hopefully a resign after those 3 years are done, tough thing will be to replace the talent lost in panarin, but hopefully comes with the development of Dubois and texier. And bobrovsky from within also, limited draftpicks will make it tougher to buy at deadline

Leafs would no interest in long term non cap value Wenneberg. Gee, folks are saying Ceci is cap dump, if it that is truce it's only for a year, Wenneberg continues for four more years. Jones for Marner? Still not sure if Leafs are interested as Jones as just three years left till UFA. What the Leaf do like the 5m difference between Marner and Jones contract for three years so they can get another good. player.

I'd also say that CBJ has a boat load of cap space to play with and next off-season you have guys like Hall, Hoffman, Schenn & Gally all hitting the market. Hall (when healthy) is a MVP type player and would be a huge add (again ton's of space in CBJ). I just think its easier to find elite wingers than it is elite RHD.

Good enough reason to not give up 2 players to bring in 1.
