Then all the trades Sakic made for securing young talent gets sacrificed in the coming years.

Nah, MTL ain't doing that. Why would they? We have enough of young physical bottom d and there's nothing special with Greer... Danault isn't even on the trade market

??? danault will Fetched a better return than that! Its will be a top prospect and pick non less. This is a poor return for a selke type centerman.

Who knows what MTL will look like in a year. They don't have a spectacular NHL team as it stands and they still lack a#2 LHD. They'd be dumb to let Danault walk.

Should I have specified this is a trade deadline move in 2020? A top 4 defenseman, a B calibre prospect and a pick is pretty decent in my mind. The most I'd change is making that pick conditional to a first on winning the cup or resigning.

Sakic puts MB on hold so he can Google danault, keeps him on hold until MB hangs up in the same frustration he caused Joe by even listening to that terrible offer

Why don't people ever make counter offers on here. I don't understand how Danault won't be a rental next year if he isn't extended. I'd rather see someone present a deal that makes no sense than be sarcastically critical. (Not referring only to you either Jeff, so don't take this as an insult)

Yes he is a selke type centerman. He is the typical selke centerman, pk, a lot of
Defensive faceoff, playing against top line. This is hard to be more a selke type centerman

Sure;
Montreal thinks danault is a #1 selke type centreman. Yet just last year they were crying about how they didnt have a #1 centre so much so that they tried to convert domi and drouin to centre and reached down the draft and picked up kotkionemi who worked out.
Colorado has a great dcore coming but zadorov will be apart of that, guys so underrated and i feel like hes going to have a huge year.
Next the hall (who I like but 12 mill on the IR will sting) signing effectively cripples them the year after because they its takes 12 mill away from signing guys like makar, landeskog, and grubauer. And if jost scores more than 32 pts this year they'll have to pay him more that compher
Nikhushkin is probably a 1 year signing and if they resign him it means hes earned a raise, burakovsky would also need a raise if he gets resigned because itll mean he had a good year

Kinda curious so are you saying he is in the names with Bergeron? ROR? Kopitar?

Danault is becoming year after year better, if montreal is thinking of trading him, the list of
Team that would be interested in would be long. Zadorov isnt a high price return for a potential selke winner. Danault have improved last 4 season not just offensively but defensively. He win faceoff kill penalty shutdown top line. Montreal might consider trading him for first round and a prospect like
Shane bowers. But i doubt that he will be traded he will
Resign with montreal after the expansion draft since he become ufa and don’t need to be protect

Not yet, but he is progressing year after year. And i am curious, when i said that he was better or equal then bergeron or o’reilly or kopitar. You just made it up in year head, because i was pretty clear. Said he was a selke type of centerman.

If he turn out to be a top five selke runner up each year he will be a very great players.

And montreal doesnt think anything danault is selke type centerman who can run the second line. He done it last 3 season with a poor canadien team. He isn’ MacKinnon but he would be on any nhl stanley cup contender a premium assets. This guys does everything well, but most he shutdown top line and that a thing that coach are looking for.

Didn’t make anything up in my head lmao simple question.. those are Selke type centermen I don’t see danault close to them.

But he is close to them. He doesnt have the offensive game of those players but he is right there with them when we talk about selke attribution. Watch danault play this year and you will change your mind fast. He is that good

Except score, which is the reason they went out and got kadri. Danault is Carl soderberg style of play and we just traded him for nothing, danault would be a 3rd line centre on the avs not worth giving up a beast and an agitator

I don’t agree on that. Kadri at some point will be suspended. He will burn the avs in playoffs with is stupid and selfish penalty. And danault is a miles ahead of sodeberg. He is younger, faster, and on better salary.

So kadri is a lock to get suspended? That's absurd. And even if he was put 10 games this season you think that's significant enough to trade for a temporary 2C more likely 3C?? You are insane if you think that's a likely thing to happen.

I'm really tired of having this argument with MTL fans, they think they need to upgrade down the middle because danault isnt good enough (aho offer sheet) yet anytime they use him on here as a trade chip he becomes Patrice Bergeron.... make up your mind guys

Also what you guys are describing a guy who takes big faceoffs, matchups, PK... you're describing the role of a 3C

And i am tired of the avs fan thinking there the greatest of the nhl. Montreal won’t trade danault for a guys who was healty strach this year and a prospect who Will never see nhl. Zadorov isnt worth a big brown poop. And i don’t see what wrong with the facts that bergevin try to upgrade is team. You don’t know hockey a lot if you think that danault isn’t worth a trade. And since you’re line center is very very thin after MacKinnon he would help you. But i doubt montreal will trade you another players. Keep your garbage defenseman. A healty scratch that is worth more than a selke nominee ??? avs fan are completely blinded.
