Petersen isn't going anywhere.

Kings can do better than Appleton for Martinez. They're going to want draft picks and expansion draft exempt prospects, not a 23-year old that has barely cracked the NHL. If the target is Winnipeg, a 2nd and David Gustafsson would be a solid return.

If Kings are going to pay $5M+ for another defenseman, it should be for a guy that plays on the left. If the Kings trade Quick, it's not going to be for another goaltender, unless it is for one they intend to bury in the minors or on an expiring contract..

He would make a lot of sense for LA 2-3 years from now. Right now he does not.
