Description
I keep hearing that Buffalo may not want to throw Casey Mittelstadt into the #2C fire this year. Jeff Carter might be the right veteran to provide Mittelstadt with protected minutes; he is also effective at RW (where he's certainly an upgrade on Kyle Okposo). Some salary retention is possible.

ottawas not doing that we dont need any defence and were def not giving up high picks which is the focus right now

You don't need defense?!? This June you'll have Nikita Zaitsev (the most reviled defenseman in Toronto history, fairly or not), two UFA's and Christian Jaros on that side, with nobody that impresses me as a prospect in the system (unlike the left side, which is deep in both roster players AND prospects). In any event, Ristolainen is better than any of the four guys you have now, and your chances of retaining Demelo (the only one whose value might approach Ristolainen's) are poor.

Carter has a no trade clause . Risto is not being traded now . Ralph and Steve will get through to him and get is value back up. I see him being moved mid season or trade deadline . Botts is not going to give him away. There is no rush to move him at this point

Carter has no such thing. He can be traded wherever.

Jeff Carter has zero no trade clause, But has threatened retirement if LA deals him.

Yeah i doubt Jeff Carter would play in Buffalo, He'll retire before he's traded there.
