Sandin down (keep Marincin at 700k or Gravel), Engvall down (keep 700k fwd), Harpur down and you have one scratch and just enough cap space.

They will save a little money by having Engvall and Sandin with the Marlies (they aren't NHL ready) and replaced with Marincin or Schmaltz and Agostino.
But you're right....it's still close to 1m to be cut. Do the Leafs dare go with 21m roster? Johnsson, Kapanen would be choices to be moved.

I know the public and even NHL players think all those high end RFA signings are a good thing....for their team and the NHLPA members. But it's means some players that might be 800,000 in the NHL are making 70,000 in the AHL due to reduced roster because of cap space. Or players who want to stay on a good team get traded, Brown was cap casualty for the Leafs already.

Quoting myself here. You can always trade Ceci at 4.5 to a desperate team and use Dermie with Rielly and Kivihalme-Liljegren.

As a smart, hard-working guy who has taken whatever job could do the most good for the world at every step, and has never earned 70k in a year, those guys also do not have my sympathies. smile

for me personally i would move ceci he would be the least valuable to me with the highest cap hit, dermott comes back bring up sandin and lilegren for bottom pair. they do awesome in the marlies and you could really lean on your top 3-4 dmen if you really need to.

To continue your thought. Millions of every day working have turned down my money in jobs because. 1. They didn't want to work shift because of family. 2, Didn't want to change cities because of their kids schooling, their spouses work, their ailling parents. 3. Maybe they are just happy to where they are.
And I'm talking about people who are making lets's 60,000 a year and raise to 80,000 might really help them. So, if I'm reading you right, it's kinda sad, that many athletes just can't seem to be happy with their situation. The pecking order of "who gets most $$$" determines their worth and their happiness.
