Maybe for Svechnikov?

Like... Oshie and a 2nd for Svechnikov and Necas.

The Caps have Ovechkin signed through next year. The other perennial 30 goal threat on the team is just about untradeable.

When a guy is on pace for his second thirty goal season in two years, but injuries keep him to 25, you don't have to tell anybody he's still got anything. If anything, Oshie has finally found a center who can pass to him, in Nick Backstrom, has stopped being asked to sacrifice his body to screen the goalie at evens, is getting to skate with the puck and make plays, and is playing the best hockey of his career.

Still got it?

Caps might not trade Oshie for Marner right now.

I like where your head is at. Top return is cap space. You also got a young well rounded 3rd liner, and most likely a #50ish pick.

The only issue is that the Hurricanes are already over the cap, so adding a net $3.65M isn't going to work for them.

Oshie is old and on a bad contract. Svechnikov is 19 and could potentially out-produce Oshie this year. Suggesting Carolina add to the trade is lol inducing.

Svechnikov > Vrana. Would you give up Vrana+ for Oshie and a #60ish?

If for some reason the Hurricanes figured out the cap issue in another deal, it would be more like Svechnikov for Oshie, a 1st, plus. Maybe even $1M retained on Oshie. Svechnikov+... lol

Oshie for Svechnikov is not happening in a million years oh my god. I don't care if you throw in a 2nd. That's so far off on value it's insane.

It's like you guys almost understand hyperbole.

That's okay. Hyperbole can be hard to understand, on the internet. Let me start again:

Thanks so much for the offer. The Caps are gonna hold onto Oshie. Need him to score goals and help Ovechkin try to win one more. Tough to negotiate a long-term extension with Backstrom while trading away his steadiest line-mate over the last three years for (googles the kid) an overhyped 25-year-old "prospect" with career highs of 16 goals and 30 points, who might not make the Caps' lineup ahead of Hathaway, Leipsic, or Boyd, plus a late 2nd round pick.

Can someone else say this better for me?

Are you saying that everything that you ever post is hyperbole? Gross exaggerations not meant seriously? Your trade values are consistently so far off that no one knows if you are purposely exaggerating or not. Your normal is 20%-25% over value to begin with. Claiming that we do not get hyperbole when you post is is a parallel for crying wolf.

Where did the Oshie for #60ish come from?

Svechnikov may very well outproduce Oshie this year... at a 13 years younger and $4M cheaper. So what are you crying for Backstrom about? That he could get a younger, faster, hungrier linemate that produces the same if not better? Are you saying that Backstrom doesn't want better?

Maybe your posts just sound better in your head but everyone else just sees lopsided ramblings.

Yeah... maybe. smile I guess Oshie for Svech is reasonable. But it's tough to give up a sure thing.

But it wasn't just Oshie for a 60ish. It was Oshie for a very well rounded 3rd liner and a 60ish and a considerable amount of much needed cap space... and not needing to worry about $5.75M through 38 years old...

Oshie for McGinn + 2nd + 7th ideal? No.
Oshie for McGinn + 2nd + 7th bad? No.

You just love cap space. smile

The tail end of Oshie's contract is back pay for how underpaid he still is, right now. Handing that off to a playoff team inside the division that just knocked WSH out in round one? Might call for an offer that's more than just not bad.

McGinn seems like O'Brien plus Stephenson in one player, with more than both their cap hit? He does all the things, but how well? I get that Svech is probably untouchable. But I think Oshie for Necas should be the starting point.
