Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Honka, Julius [RFA Rights]
DAL
  1. 2020 4th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Dallas was rumored to be asking for a 3rd earlier in the year, but now that Honka has publicly asked for a trade I imagine this has lowered his value.
2.
ANA
  1. Fiala, Kevin
  2. Pateryn, Greg
Additional Details:
Revised the trade. Initially I had Greenway instead of Fiala and Anaheim was giving up a 3rd.

I think Ducks would be insane to accept that

I’m not high in Greenway, like at all so if I’m ANA I’m declining but it depends on how you view Greenway

Fair points. I think Greenway can become a good 2nd liner, around 50 points, but has potential for 60 if everything goes right. Would it be more fair if I removed the pick? Or am I still out of the ballpark...

Take the pick from ANA and put it on MIN and I see no problem with that

I just swapped Greenway for Fiala instead. Seems people are not very high on Greenway on here...

Ik Wild fans r high on him, I’m j not a fan. Doesn’t mean he isn’t gonna be good. I could see Fiala I’m this trade, good fit.

The purpose of trading Kase should be to acquire a #2 RD or a #3 RD plus another significant asset. My ideal trade is Kase plus a third for an extended Jared Spurgeon (and I certainly don't dream about a Kase for an extended Faulk swap). I'm not sure Pateryn is sufficiently good enough to help Anaheim significantly, so the addition of Fiala doesn't excite me a whole lot.

If I were sold on Pateryn, I would love this trade. As it is, all I can say is that it is certainly fair value, and well conceived.

I like Greenway, especially for his experience in the Olympics with Troy Terry. I liked Pateryn before he signed with the Wild, but I'm not excited about him now. My lack of enthusiasm stems from an only-tangentially-related disappointment: I had my heart set on Nick Jensen in anticipation of the summer -- and then Washington swooped in and snapped him up. At the beginning of last summer I had my heart set on Dylan Demelo -- and then he signed with Ottawa, of all places. This year I've been hoping for Scott Mayfield.

Greenway and Pateryn for Kase may be an accurate discount from Fiala and Pateryn as a way to factor in Kase's injury history. If Pateryn is an acceptable NHL defenseman, particularly on the defensive side, then Anaheim fans have no reason to object to this trade in either form.

Pateryn definitely fits your bill, then. He's pretty bad in the offensive zone, but as a defensive defenseman and PK specialist he's really good. You probably don't want him in your top 4 unless he's with an above-average 2nd pairing D partner, probably a more offensive-oriented two-way defenseman would work best (and from my limited knowledge, I believe that describes Fowler). I still think Fiala and Pateryn for Kase is close, maybe Anaheim throws in a 3rd or 4th or something to account for some injury insurance. I really would love to see Kase in forest green. I'm a sucker for high-skill right shot forwards (hence my irrational love for Nylander).
