I think its pretty much unanimous he was overpaid, Leafs fan or not I don't think anyone can justifiably use comparables and say he deserves anywhere over 10 million for anywhere under 7 years. However because the leafs fanbase is generally insane, when a good player like that comes along, they can't let him go even if they have to overpay him. Marner's market value as an RFA on any other team comes no where close to 10.9x6

I knew he would on a long deal. Not n3cessarily on a short term. Frankly Matthews deal is to blame for the RFAs getting these deals. Based on what he got amd how much he has produced, he got too much also.
