They get a little extra wiggle room with Hyman and dermott on LTIR for 2 months and a 22 man roster. Will put them at cap

Yes but when everyone is healthy they will be at cap with a 21 man roster. And Hyman and Dermott don't go on LTIR. Just regular IR

Well, right or wrong the Leafs know their cap situation. Calgary, Winnipeg, Rangers, Tampa, Boston will over the cap too if they sign their RFAs to long term deals.

They should be fine until Hymen gets back. They have the time to evaluate how their players are doing. I would suspect by then they will have a good idea how Ceci is going to pan out and will probably trade him if he doesn't. Also if Johnsson or Kapanen are not playing up to par and the other depth players are doing the Job one of them could be traded as well for ELC players/prospects/picks. Cap problems solved for this year.

Yes but they won't be able to accumulate any daily cap savings so once D and H are back, they have to fit under unless they make some sort of trade.

Nice to see you back Billius. Your insight to the cap and the LTIR is appreciated. Just the warn you, on CapFriendly, the Leafs aren't allowed the same benefits as other teams have when they have players on LTIR. Clarkson and Horton are just fake injuries so the Leaf can sign Marner. Confused

Not a big issue with the Marlies in town as well. Just daily transactions with that one extra roster slot if needed

True although it's a little trickier is they are on a road trip b2b with a D injured.

Haha yeah, we run the league from Toronto, they should just accept it. Look forward to seeing some realistic roster projections here over coming days.

If the leafs offered $11m in June and settled close to that now...I'm just going to trust they know how to dance with the cap and are privy to more information than we are. I can't imagine they'd give up that cap space without being certain they could operate within it...even after Dermott and Hyman come back.

Yea, the cap situation doesn't look good to us, but trust the Leafs management can work it out because they have too. Remember that so many Leaf haters said the Leafs were over the cap when the Leafs just had Horton on LTIR, then the Leafs acquired Clarkson. So there are some aspects of the cap that are do complicated for us to understand and certainly too complicated for the CapFriendly computer program to get it exactly accurate.
