What happens when Dermy/Hyman are out of LTIR? Won't we then be over the cap? What happens then lmao.

You can not put Hyman and Dermott on LTIR until the start of the season. You can not put them there unless they are out for the entire upcoming season. Thus Leafs are over the cap by the start of the season.

run a 20 man roster, I just need more info about how non LTIR injuries work. If its a situation where we can just sit player x and call up player Y then running a 20/21 man roster is easy peasy. However if a short term injury sits on the roster then we may to make a move. If Ceci isn't up to par guess who is going on LTIR when they come back.

I am saying they can go on LTIR on the start of the season but they must be on the roster day 1 then put on LTIR. If they are on LTIR before the start of the season then they are lost for the season.

what I am more curious about is what happens with short term injured players? for instance if the Leafs run a 20 man roster on the road and a guy gets a small injury. He can't be sent down or put on LTIR so we wouldn't even have the space to replace 1 short term injury

For cap relief on an injured player during the season, the player must miss at least 7 days, and not return before 7 days after being placed on IR. You also cant fake injuries to get cap relief lol.

So if they go with 20 players, and a player is day to day, or sick, they basically have to place the player on IR right away, and have that player miss a minimum of 7 days, in order to call a player up if they have under 600k in cap room. Or just play with a short bench. It's not ideal, but players get hurt early on in games and teams play with a short bench.

Realistically you'd want a 21 man roster with an extra Dman in the press box at the bare minimum.

Anyone else find it kind of annoying when people are laughing like the leafs management didn’t think this season through with LTIR to consider and player movement. I’m pretty sure they have thought this through, and will be just fine to open the season with a full roster and have planned past day 1 and know what they are going to do to make room for Hyman/Dermott. Seriously... I think these guys have thought this through. Leafs will be just fine.
