I know taxes are different in Florida, but if Marner got just under 11, I’d be asking for at least that if I were Point. He’s a center and is arguably better and I don’t think you can make the “he’s a product of his linemates,” unless you do the same thing with Marner.

They are both products of playing on teams that have two forwards much better than them. 10Mxwhatever is more than fair. The picks that Tampa gets out of that will help them keep right on leading the division. Tampa is hoping for this.

Point is also hoping for this, if they're trying to offer him 6M per, and pretend they don't plan to trade him somewhere with higher taxes as soon as the right offer comes along. But the above team could make the playoffs if Hronek and Bowey take great strides forward, or if they add a top-four defender during the season.
