The one thing Dallas doesn’t need is another goalie prospect.

Not really. It’s not great, but please remove your bias blinders and realize that no team would take him for free. Maybe Johnson and Pittsburgh’s first for Montreal’s second round pick would be more fair

I mean yeah no team would take him for free, but it would be better for Pittsburgh to wait until they need to unload his salary and keep the first round pick for now. That salary can come off next year depending on how Galchenyuk performs, but he probably doesn't deserve a raise, schultz might leave, who knows. Either way it would be better for Pittsburgh to keep the first for now and see how they perform in the season. If they don't do well, it might be more reasonable to toss him for a second and a third/B level prospect. If they do end up playing well, the pressure to trade Johnson isn't nearly as high

JJ trade is awful.

To many haters on here wearing blinders. Do you remember what the defense looked like with Riikola in the playoffs while JJ sat.
It was clear dressing JJ was an upgrade.

If you want to trade JJ, please A. don't act like he has no value, and B. realize you need to bring in a LHD to replace him.

Something like that I could see. Everyone else needs to remove their blinders and see that giving up a 1st round pick just to move Johnson and getting nothing in return is not an option. Not even close to an option.

Reason. It's nice to see for a change when talking about JJ.

How can you even question other people's "blinders" when you clearly can't remember the facts? Riikola didn't play in the playoffs. It was Maatta. Secondly, the results were far worse with Johnson in the lineup for the other three games of the sweep. Get off of Johnson's Johnson.

It's not reason, because this guy is wrong. Riikola didn't play in the playoffs. And the team was worse with Johnson in the three games of that series than with Maatta in game one. So he's wrong on two fronts. and you are wrong for thinking this is a reasonable take.

You're an idiot who has probably watched three hockey games your whole life.

your right it was Maatta, but you are wrong, he was worse.

But that's besides the point. We all saw Riikola in the regular season. He is not an answer to the problem of filling that space if JJ is gone.
In 37 games his 5v5 was awful. 3 points all assists and a 45.3% corsi.
He was not an answer.

You call me an idiot when both of you literally can't figure out which player was the one that played in place of JJ or bothered to look at the scores or possession numbers for the three games that he played in the series.

Pathetic.

All I read on this site is how Jack Johnson was the issue with the penguins. No one wants to acknowledge any of the major issues the team had last year. All people say is how terrible the team was when he was on the ice. Guess what. The team was terrible when he wasn't on the ice. Is that his fault? Everyone points out his advanced stats, yet no one talks about his traditional stats that were pretty average. Or that by the end of the year he was actually quite serviceable. There are so many other issues with this team last year other than all these pissy, little brats being upset that Jack Johnson got a couple more years than he probably deserved on his contract instead of 1989 Paul Coffey signing a 7 year league minimum contract.
