Honka for van Riemsdyk seems like a natural.

I don't think Carolina needs Janmark, though.

Hamilton
Faulk
Pesce
TVR
McKeown

All RHD out of options adding another is not really necessary without other trades. Janmark is not needed in Carolina.

A TVR for Honka move has some merit, but this is not it.

It’s for cap reasons. Without him they probably can’t do this deal until the season starts and than they LTIR someone

Yeah, I had a suspicion that was your reasoning but I didn't see it from the roster you posted.

CanesNHL Where they were live and TvR was skating with the team, being hounded by Brind'amour and in the drills..... he's fine, he's rusty, but he's healthy

Did you watch him do contact drills? Every single report I see on him says he's still recovering, isn't taking any contact, won't play in the preseason, and won't be ready for the start of the season... He may have been on the ice but that doesn't mean he's 100% healthy

Roddy "He should be fit for my style of play by the last game of preseason"

Sara Civ of the Athletic "Brindamout saying TvR will be healthy enough to play for the start of the season
Strength and Conditioning Coach Bill Burneston "van Riemsdyk should be good to go for the season opener against Montreal"

I dunno where the hell you're reading he won't be healthy, but you need better sources

Tbh I'm not a fan of the canes so I don't follow any of their insiders. But I got this directly from the hurricanes official twitter which was posted an hour ago: https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/canes-ramp-up-intensity-on-second-day-of-training-camp/c-309133118

It literally says he has skated without contact for both days of training camp and the latest update was that he wasn't expected to be ready for the season

Hold up, lemme get you the clip, it's been announced several times, the fitness coach said it on the canes podcast so it's certainly there somewhere

Not saying that you're wrong, just telling you where I was getting my info from. But I am am curious how they have a timeline for him before he has done any contact drills though (unless he has done contact and that last link I sent was wrong)

Because Faulk and TVR are on the last year of their deals and are trade candidates. Honka is cheap, term controlled.

As i said there is merit, but this deal is not it. ??‍♂️

This:

Trevor van Riemsdyk (shoulder) is unlikely to start the season.
The defenseman underwent surgery at the beginning of May and the timetable of four-to-six months looks to be five-six months at this time. He is skating but is not participating in practices. "I don't expect him to be ready for the start of the season," Hurricanes President and General Manager Don Waddell told NHL.com last week. "It just depends on how things go for him. There's no reason to rush him back in game one or game two. It's a long season. If we're going to go deep, we're going to need him. We'll be very patient.

This was copy and pasted from an article this morning. ??‍♂️

I cant believe youre still denying it after he already missed time. How do i need better sources when I was right? All i said was that he wouldnt be ready at the beginning of the season, which is true...
