It would be more like Honka for Hudon +4th. There's a biais for first picks so whatever his performance is, the 1st picks always have more value. And let's be honest, Hudon has close to no value

Then what if I switched Hudon for McCarron? (Bias for 1st picks)

He's on a two way contract so MTL can't lose him to waivers. Hudon or Peca could be lost to waivers so if I were MTL I'd rather trade those two guys instead of losing them for nothing. But if Dallas is interested in McCarron, I might still do a trade McCarron +4th for Honka. He didn't show some sparks on offense like Hudon but he's still 1st pick, so same value imo

I think Dallas looks at a guy like Lehkonen. They would have to add, but what add would it take for them to get him?

I highly doubt Bergevin is willing to trade him. He's getting tried on a 2nd line with Drouin and Domi. He could really blow up on offense and defensively he's one of the best forward for the habs. That being said, It's hard to put a value on a player like that: good potential, he had many chances, but doesn't finish the plays.

In short, he's really loved by the coach and GM so he will not move.

But for his value I'd say something like Burakovsky trade: COL gave 2nd + 3rd. If Honka is worth about a 4th, Lehkonen for Honka + 2nd + 4th

Why would Habs lose those players to waivers? If claimed they have to stay on the NHL roster. Almost always, teams don't claim minor leaguers which Hudon, Peca and Hudon are.

That’s not how waivers work. McCarron cleared waivers last year.

Unless someone sees potential in Hudon, I agree, Peca and McCarron would definitely clear.
