Point was offered 5.3 million on 3 year deal. He will be lucky to get 7 million for 3. This ain’t the leafs.Tampa know how to pay its players and will play hardball if they have too

Fairly paid to play in Toronto in comparison to Matthews. Marner doesn't get that in TB.

Fairly paid for Toronto because of what Mathews got .
Get with the program. Dubas overpayment to Mathews is why Marner got and deserves what he got
Tampa overpayment to nobody so they will not set themselves up like dubas did
Mitch was top scorer for the team and then expects to be paid Mathews type money
On Tampa he would get around 8 million for that contract
Plus remember I was right and you were wrong so let’s not start all this again lol

Tampa has to make him sit or take less money than Marner.
They are not a rich team like the leafs and the fan base will not care as much
5.3 for 3 years is a joke but I do see him taking 7 to 8 max for 3 years
Just my opinion though

Yep. You see to understand it. I don’t get why others don’t
The leafs set this mess up and now they pay
Other teams don’t have to follow Toronto’s lead because so guy on cap friendly say so

Says you the expert on everything. Remember how wrong you have been? Maybe you might want to re evaluate your career at cap friendly lol

So you are now saying point will get 11 million for 6 years ?
Please say that. Please lol
I want to show you again you are wrong
I say Million less than Marner even though he is as good as him
Please tell me your number then
I say he will never get over 9 million and my option is it will be around 7 or 8 but definitely under 9. I said Marner was 11 because of Mathews
Tell me what your price is and then we can come back and see who is right

3 years at 7.5 with 3rd year at 10 for qualifying offer
5 or 6 years at a max of 9 million
No 4 year deals because I explained before nobody will do that anymore and 7 or 8 is stupid unless a huge overpayment which Tampa won’t do

Different teams and management have there own philosophies on how to manage their team. An athletic article about Tampa bay specifically recently came out showing how they usually sign young guys to a cheap 3 year bridge deal and then they sign them long term afterwards.

Johnson, killorn, palat, kucherov, vasilevsky, etc.

The highest cap hit of any of those players on 3 year deals so far, Kucherov $4.766M. A lot better than paying $11M for your RFA's.

Brisebois is currently offering Point less than $6M on a 3 year deal. Tampa Bay has taxes going for them, but even with that they are doing way better than Toronto at getting players to buy in.

Honestly I have no idea what Toronto was thinking when it came to Matthews.

I have no idea why Nylander wasn't traded after pulling the stunt he did.

Yes you understand also. These so called experts on here that post thousands of post and think they are always right have no clue what they are talking about
It makes me want to quit this site because they constantly post nonsense and then make fun of people who know what they are talking about
Good job on knowing your stuff

It is though. I straight up said TB has a history of giving out 3 year bridge contract to guys coming off of ELC's.

The point is that just because Toronto does things there way does not mean another team has to follow suit. So far Marner and Matthew's are the only RFA's who got both the term and AAV they wanted. No other team in the league is operating that way, you want less term? Ok we are lowering your AAV. You want a high AAV? Ok but we are signing you to 8 years so it is worth the investment.

Toronto failed to do that.

You were correct on 3 years and I got close to what I said 7 X 3 . I don’t understand why these leafs fans think they are experts. Dubas done this to himself by giving Mathews a ridiculous overpayment. That made Marner demand the same. Everyone outside of Toronto knew dubas painted himself in a corner. The rest of the league didn’t have to follow suit.
