3 years at 7.5 with 3rd year at 10 for qualifying offer
5 or 6 years at a max of 9 million
No 4 year deals because I explained before nobody will do that anymore and 7 or 8 is stupid unless a huge overpayment which Tampa won’t do

He even got less on a 3 year deal with a 9 million dollar qualifying offer and 6.75
There is 3 or 4 contributors to this site that post constantly about stuff they have no clue about
We have one right here on this post
Wonder who?

It is though. I straight up said TB has a history of giving out 3 year bridge contract to guys coming off of ELC's.

The point is that just because Toronto does things there way does not mean another team has to follow suit. So far Marner and Matthew's are the only RFA's who got both the term and AAV they wanted. No other team in the league is operating that way, you want less term? Ok we are lowering your AAV. You want a high AAV? Ok but we are signing you to 8 years so it is worth the investment.

Toronto failed to do that.

You were saying that Toronto contract situation was because of Matthews as a comparable. I responded that team only comparables are not how contracts work and you come back with an entirely new argument as if it was the same one you were making all along.
My response is still accurate. Team only comparables do not exist. What happened here is an anchoring failure by points agent (at least from what we know from public info) and a player who wanted to play more than get a fair contract.

And 6 years is term, wtf are you talking about? The **** outa here with this Toronto failed to get term ****.

I elaborated on my first post. I said Marner gets that much because his team paid that much to Matthew's. I said Marner would not get that in TB.

You said that isn't how contracts work.

I elaborated: teams have different ways of doing things. Toronto gives out stupid contracts, TB gives out 3 year prove it bridge deals.

6 years is 2 less than it should have been for Marner. 5 years is 3 less than it should have been for Matthews.

In 3 years Point is gonna be an RFA and ask for what? $11M? In 5 years what is Matthews going to ask for? I bet he will want a lot more than $11.6M. I bet he doesn't stay in Toronto either.
