Only way this happens is there has been a miscalculation in the cap and is rises to 87m this October. Leafs don't need a winger but they might have to trade a winger to get cap space for a Dman.

I think what we have right now is what we get. Its unfortunate that Hyman and Dertmott start the year on the shelf but I like that it's going to give guys like Moore, Mikheyev, Lily, Bracco, maybe Sandin, and a bunch of others a shot to fight for an increased role or a roster spot.

The competition for the 4th line and bottom pairing d will be fun to watch. Personally, I'd like to see Lily and Bracco on the opening roster, if for no other reason than to give them a taste for a few games. I'm also hoping Mikheyev comes as advertised.

To be honest the injuries to Dermott and Hyman might be a nice time to let some of the kids up and see what they look like.

Even with half retention on Kreider?

At this point we'd have a hard time affording him if he came with full retention, if that was even a thing.

Pretty sure that what we have is what we get for this year, and that's ok.
