I appreciate the numbers about his contract, but I have to ask if you were serious about suggesting a DeBrincat for Carlo swap?
I’ll admit that I did not watch much Boston this season, so my knowledge about Carlo stops at “He is a good defenseman”.
Well, should watch I guess
Carlo is a young, top4 D (who can play on top pair, he did it in his rookie season) and already one of the best shutdown D in the league. No Carlo = no SCF for the Bruins. He was a monster defensively in the playoffs. If we get him to a long-term deal (6-7-8), $4-4,5M$ is realistic (will turn out to be a steal). But it looks like Sweeney will go the bridge deal route so he'll get in the $3M for 2-3 years.
So we're not trading him for a top6 D. Murphy isn't bad but he isn't a top4 D. McAvoy-Carlo (and Clifton) is the best 1-2-3 RD that we've had in a while so we're keeping them.
It would take an overpayment to deal him so like

$4 - $4.5MM depending upon term, plus at least a second-round pick, and I still don't think Boston does it.
DeBrincat for Carlo has some appeal to them, however.
DeBrincat would be a starting piece (
I know CHI will never want to move him either) so let's just forget about all of this
