I think Russell will be bought out before next season if he can’t or won’t be moved (dumb NTC). With Jones, Lagesson (whom you forgot about), Samorukov, and Broberg coming for LD the Oilers have to make room. Hell, one of Klefbom or Nurse could be traded too depending.

Russell's NTC has a 15 team trade list, and his salary for next year is just $1.5M. I don't think he'll be difficult to trade.

And I don't see either Nurse or Klefbom traded next summer, defensemen take time and I don't see any of the prospects superseding these two this year.

Giving Kassian and Sheary big money to play in the bottom-6 makes no sense.

Also, you should have qualified and traded Benning rather than letting him walk in free agency. He's probably worth a 2nd round pick.

I could move him up to the second line and have Draisaitl with McDavid again. Kreider-Nuge-Neal would be a fun line.
