Important part of offersheets was always that player needs to sign it. Which did not happened.

Most accurate reports seem to point at Minnesota and Columbus.

Yup I said that and my basis for that was that every team knows he wants to be a Leaf. Basis proven right, but conclusion proven wrong.

Who's the source on Minnesota? Seems like something Michael Russo would have reported on. Also seems unlikely given they didn't have a GM for a large portion of that time.

Ah, ok. Seems odd because Fenton supposedly hated offer sheets due to Nashville's experience dealing with Weber receiving one and by the time Guerin came on board, they didn't have cap space to take on Marner without sending out salary somehow.

ive been saying that all summer, when people are clamouring oh someone should offersheet Marner/Laine/etc the player is in control, not the team who is interested in tendering one.
Same with Point in tampa, he doesnt want to leave Tampa, so these 8mx4year or whatever minor ones people post now wont get the job done.

meh, it was always depending on the Marner fall out, which didnt help that it extended into Training Camp and he got overpaid, so im sure that put a monkey wrench into their contract talks

Both teams make sense. Montreal already tried one and CBJ could have used a replacement for Panarin.

No I said that was the rumour, that they had the framework of a deal in place, Clearly that may have been over blown, but there are multiple fowards still not signed bc of the Marner fall out, so this is not a Rantanen issue, this is sitll an RFA group issue that all the big guns, Rants/Laine/Connor/Tkachuk/Boeser/Konecny/Point

"If he isnt signed a few days before camp I can agree with that, then something majorly wrong happened and I would expect a longer hold out. From Sakics presser a couple weeks ago and from the info BSN Denver was hinting around about things are close...I would be shocked and disappointed since all the signs are there that this thing was almost done."

yeah I am disappointed that he isnt signed, I dont know what your point is, I just am putting things into perspective as well. I can be disappointed that hes not signed right now but something did happen....Marner changed the market and the bench mark has changed.

Whats your point?
