After signing Big Four, Leafs can't afford to pay $2.250m for Hyman's skill set. He will be 28 in June. Imo, either trade him for prospects or seek to resign him at +$700k. There are plenty of twenty-somethings in NHL who would can deliver the services that Hyman provides and would be thrilled to play with Tavares. Careful cap mgmt is sad reality of recent signings...and, imo, Hyman is overpaid for what he delivers. Leafs will need $ for likes of Dermott, Freddie, etc.

Too many players on the roster. They will only be able to carry 21. Over on the cap already based on this lineup. Bad scene.

If the Leafs are lucky, Matthews gets injured for few months providing cap relief to be able to fulfill a 22 or 23 man roster.

21 goals in 71 goals with no PP time. Don't know many players that make just 2.25m that can provide that productivity at such a low price. He's one of the better bargains for 20 goal, 40 point players in the league not on ELCs.

With some of the hot takes on this site, "If the leafs are lucky, Matthews gets injured" isn't the craziest thing I've seen.
Better than
I hope mikelev is a bust
Let's trade Anderson for cap relief
The sabres wouldn't take Reilly+Anderson+a 1st round pick for a seventh
The rangers wouldn't upgrade in the draft because they won't give away draft picks
Marner making 12.5*3
Toews is better than Crosby
Harpur in the leaf's lineup

Forgot one
EDM should buy out Klefbom and Larsson

And none are as bad as all of the chirreli moves.

I was being sarcastic. I'm kinda suggesting there is likely to be injuries to some bigger cap players which might provide some cap relief.
Kinda strange I have some posts....and they were serious, hoping the Dermot is on LTIR for a long time, which will lessen his salary next season.

But I like your list. Here's another Just in the past few minutes, I have a discussion with some Leaf hater. He's trying to help the Leaf cap by suggesting that Leafs trade 21 goal scorer Hyman because he's overpaid at 2.25 and is really just a 700,000 player.

I know it was sarcasm. I just thought for a second it wasn't until I saw that you were Palhal.
I was actually having a discussion with bcarlo, and he said nylander was not even 11th in his draft class. I was very confused because I thought it was you, and you usually are someone I agree with.

Hah! Try putting Hyman on another line, with players other than Matthews or Tavares, and see how he does? Why does no one question why he is no longer with Matthews & Nylander?

Who says he isn't playing with Nylander and Tavares. You seem do know little about Hyman. Gee last year we saw him without Nylander most of the season, Nylander delayed signing and Nylander playing lots of so called 3rd line minutes. Matthews was injured last season...didn't play with him then. Okay you don't like Hyman but your argument are invalid. He would be the third/fourth highest point winger with the Bruins, gee hardly 3rd liner or a 700,000 player
