Not sure two rovers can play together, and not sure of the need for another offensive defenseman, but skating ability and offensive flair would be interesting, I believe jets need to get more, to even enter the thought of moving laine

Winnipeg needs to add to Laine to get Svech. Jets fans think the opposite- hence the reason a deal isn’t going anywhere. Also, not a great idea to trade a UFA just weeks after signing him.

My point is there is a gap in terms of value perception...sure that sounds like a logical point. There is zero point in trading Svech for the ‘Canes. Winnipeg and Carolina are no longer logical trading partners given the cap figures currently.

So what the contract that Laine signs that makes this attractive for the Canes? Canes are close to the cap. Laine probably doesn't fit into Canes cap. Not sure the Canes even like the on ice value. Laine scored just 10 more goals an 13 points more than Svech last season. I know you trade for future results but still...is Laine THAT more valuable considering his the cap difference.

What people dont understand is that Laine got 36 goals in his rookie year, Svech got 37 points...Dude, Laine is way better than Svech

You're right about Laine scoring only 13 more points than Svech last season but Laine was brutal for much of last year due to a back injury he played through. In both players rookie seasons Svech put up 37 points in 82 games and Laine put up 64 points in 73 games. Without the injury Laine probably puts up double the points that Svech did in their respective rookie seasons.

Laine's regression last year is concerning for sure, but the 2 players aren't really that comparable at this point. If Svech scores 90 goals over the next 2 seasons get back to me but probably getting to 30 goals in a season would be huge for Svech. Laine puts up 30 goals when he sucks.
