I think you meant to put that top line as the fourth line

yeah teams do, the last 1 or 2.
It's like you are just asking to have players dropped by needless injury.
Did you watch the last game. There is a reason Crosby doesn't play, or frankly any other starting player.
Let the kids play and rest the stars. Beating them up for no reason is just a sign of bad coaching.

You also have to remember that we have a new coach who is evaluating everyone, not just the kids, the pens have the same coach and a lot of their core players are much older than the Sabres, makes more sense for Buffalo to play more veterans and Pittsburgh to rest more

so you are going with the evaluate Skinner and JE argument?
Come on, these are weak reasons at best guys. This is an amateur mistake. These guys should be sitting. They got nothing to prove.
It's common sense.

It's not about proving what they can do its about a coach learning how they fit into what he wants to do. The more he sees his stars play, the better he knows how to deploy them.

these guys have years of tape. They aren't unknown, I'm also sure there are guys on the staff who are very familiar with them.
Look, you don't get it. It's ok, keep making excuses for this. When someone ends up on IR on a meaningless preseason game you'll get it.
Most teams in the league sitting star players vets for a reason.

I'm awaiting your foretold future. I'm sorry how I don't see how having veterans in the lineup in preseason is terrible (which it obviously isn't), but hey.

things like this is why you don't play your star players in the preseason.
But hey, logic.
