Dermott isn't going to make that kind of money unless its a long term deal. He's a denfensive defenceman who hasn't cracked 20 pts in a season. Look at a bridge deal around 2.25 for 3 years.

Now I agree 3.5m might be too much on 3 year deal. But Carlo signed for 2.825 and his offensive production rate is half of Dermott. Now points aren't everything in when he comes to value, but Dermot sure could be looking at closer to 3m X 3.

I still think he'll come in closer to 2.5 over 3 years. I think this season will really tell where he's at especially coming back from injury, because if he isn't at the same level he was prior to his shoulder injury the contract could be less than 2.5.
