Getting old

Created by: truculence67
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 17, 2019
Published: Sep. 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I kinda see the Bruins entering Sharks territory - playoff team but an old core and no blue-chip prospects. Probably not in the same tier as Tampa or Toronto anymore.
Boston fans: would you rather see a partial rebuild shipping out Krejci and maybe Tuukka and restocking the cupboard or going all-in for another run?

It's kind of amazing that Bergeron especially has maintained such a standard level of play at his advanced (hockey) years. Even Krejeci seems to fade but then turns it on in in playoffs.
Don't think the Bruins are in Sharks territory at all. Sharks have multiple players on long term contracts that are taking them to their mid 30s to late 30s. Not sure all those players can live up to their contracts as the age. We'll see.

You have to go all in imo. Bergeron is aging, and he's put some HARD years on his body. If you try to delay to stock the shelves, even if it's only a year or two, who knows what Bergeron will look like at 36?

Krejci is a guy you can swap out potentially, but if you're moving Tuukka and don't have a concrete option to replace him, you may as well trade Bergeron as well. You can retool for a couple years and come back with Marchand and Krug still in their prime.

Gotta go all in one of these next couple seasons, they dont have any blue-chip prospects but their strength is the depth of their system. To stay competitive after Bergy, Tuukka and Krejci you need to hit on a couple guys like Studnicka, Bjork, Beecher and hopefully get Debrusk to be a 1st line caliber player. Having Mcavoy and Carlo on your right side is going to keep you set for the next decade in that respect, but the biggest issue will be goaltending and getting another two-way stud like Bergy

I'll take Legare Addison POJ and maybe even Marino over whoever BOS's third best spec is (assuming Hallander and Poulin are 1-2, and they aren't as good as Vaak, but they're comparable to Stud imo)

Bad take. B's are in good position now and even in the future imo. Sure some big guns could slow or whatever but I'm confident in the direction that they will find a way to keep this team a contender. Worst-case, they do like 2015-17, set back, get a lot of prospects and build a strong team again.

And your signings
Beecher, not sure he signs next year (that would be max ELC prob)

Senyshyn will only get $1,5M if he somehow stays up and get like 15-25 pts. Bjork could get more. Grzelcyk as well ($). Same think for Zboril with Senyshyn, only way he gets that is he plays regularly in the NHL this year, which is unlikely given our depth. Kuhlman could get more depending on this season.

Krug will obviously get more; not if he takes a discount. Halak probably leaves (hopefully not). Forget Hoffman lol, we're keeping Coyle instead.

Wagner Lagace and Fitzgerald will likely be gone.

if Poulin can become a two-way middle-six C like Studnicka yeah, otherwise no. We got some much middle-six options with a realistic NHL shot but take your one forward (Legare) if you want. Joseph & Addison are good but yeah, we got Vaakanainen, Lauzon is NHL ready and Zboril/Andersson have NHL potential. Thing is that we already have (assuming Krug stays), McAvoy, Carlo, Grzelcyk, Krug & Vaak for the future so we don't really need elite prospects on D.

after this season krejci should def get a hard look at for a potential trade. Value should still be high enough to get a decent return. Helps with clearing cap too. Stud, jfk or freddy should be ready by then to take a huge leap forward. If not, coyle can always move up
