Why are Bruins adding? Carter's contract runs longer than Backes. Maybe add a late round pick 5th or 6th at most.

Because Carter can still play top-6 minutes, his contract saves the bruins 800,000 a year, and the last year won't really matter since the Bruins will have most of their big contracts off the books by then anyways
