Flames, did not accomplish anything useful, but that is just me as a Flames fan.
The Lucic trade is awkward as hell, Frolik or Brodie did not get traded while Valimaki got injured, Tkachuk still not signed and it seems that it could go into the season. The Mangi signing is awfull for player respect, I would be mad as hell at Tre for not giving me a decent contract (at least 950k would have been appreciated). We lost Hathaway, a guy who had pretty good chemistry with Derek and Mangi.
... yes and Talbot is a total miss. Spend 2.75 mil for bull****. Gillies could have got that place (yes it is a risk, but the Flames are not contenders so why not go with two inexperienced goalies).
The only positive was Bennet`s contract.

P.S. whoever thinks Flames are contender this please refer to April, 2019 and watch the round 1 of Flames-Avs - no commentary or explanation needed. Since the team is almost the same you get the point.

WINNIPEG

Without a doubt CBJ as of right now. That could def. change if the Jets don't sign Connor and Laine before opening night at reasonable levels. But I'll believe that when I see it. MIN wasn't a playoff team last season so at worst they'll get a higher draft pick. CBJ steamrolled one of the all time greatest regular season teams in 4 games. Now, they'll do well to finish 7th in the Metro.

P.S. I can't wait to see Torts implode. Good TV if nothing else. I wouldn't want to be a Blue Jackets beat writer this season!

I think the Flames will regress this season. They still can make the playoffs, but only b/c they're in the weakest division. I still really like their top 6 and their top 4 D. But, no way all those guys career it again like last season.

For now, it's Columbus. They couldn't resign three of their four best players and didn't really do anything to replace them, except signing Nyquist. Depending on the Byfuglien/Laine situation, Winnipeg could be the biggest losers here

He has a better chance of being the best player in the AHL this season.

HAHA! Honestly, do you even think he'd score 20+ goals in a full AHL season? Seriously though, he's gonna be playing w/ much better offensive depth in CGY. If he can't score at least 10 this will be his last season in Alberta.

This question will be revisited in April 2020 for sure. Interesting how the Rangers got multiple votes. I think they're top 3 in best off-season, but if they have a bad year everyone will be hating on the Trouba contract. A Shattenkirk repeat would be a disaster. Panarin is rock solid and we know he'll produce. Gorton and JD took a huge calculated risk by loading up the cap only a year after declaring a total rebuild. Personally, I think the Trouba signing was a mistake, but I've been wrong before.
