Flyers are close to the cap, they really can't take on all that cap difference, even if the trade is fair. Flyers have lots of wingers. Think the Jets best bet if they do decide to make a trade is to a team that needs scoring, but about the same amount of cap will have to be returned.

Don't think we would be able to fit that contract under the cap... you would have to sub Patrick for a higher priced forward for this to work and I don't think a JVR type and Sanheim would be enough.

Don't think it's major, he's week to week. Although the history is obviously concerning.

Probably the wrong time of year for such a trade, going to be a interesting year for jets, hopefully the kids are ready

Players (or anyone) really don't losing money. Connor and/or Laine still might be signed soon. And Buff, I'd be more worried if he decides to continue his career but his mind/heart isn't in it. But with if retires and having that cap space, surely the Jets can find an adequate replacement. So many other teams at at the cap, the Jets might be get a over priced, short term but adequate NHLer for free

Rangers need cap space....Is Smith on his two year deal good enough for the Jets? Yeah he might have to waive his NTC. Canes have a a group of young Dmen that have to clear waivers...most AHLers but seem to have some NHL use. Wings have a few veterans with just one year left on their deals. Do those guys want one last chance at a Cup run. Johnson of Pens who would long term cap relief. (with some retention. Is Alzner NHL good for a year (with retention).

I get what you're saying but none of those guys replace Buff or make the Jets contenders, like if Daley wanted one more run at a cup Winnipeg is not the team to go to.. Lol
No Buff=No playoff hockey in Winnipeg

Personally I wouldn't mind Gudbranson though, he's tough and could be okay on the 3rd pair. If the Pens didn't want much for him like mid round pick that's a trade I'd make.

Don't know what you mean, "no excuses for a couple multi year deals to rfa's"..??

Given the Valimaki injury and that the Flames would consider themselves contenders I doubt they're interested in moving Hamonic, the Jets sure could use him though.

If buffy money off the books, lots of dough for Connor and or laine, with the extra cap room, could get cgy some room for tkachuk. Didn’t realize the valimaki injury

Ah okay, gotcha

The Laine contract as suggested here is a risk I'd take if I was Chevy, I think Laine will be worth $9M in no time, seems like I'm in the minority though.

I’m with ya, in minority, I would do 6/8x 9.25 ish, anything under 10, and if that doesn’t do it, I would find a trade for 2 firsts 1 second and a third or greater, not all picks, but that as a reference. And Connor 6/8 x 7.25 and hope they both get done. Kulikov off books next summer, pearrault off in 2 years, and send a sweetener to Seattle to take little in two years, so entire team under 30 with a pile of experience, other than wheeler

Well you're never going to be able to replace Buff for his one ice value. But your choice is Gudbranson is good since the Pens seem to want to dump some cap.

My thought is, if jets dont get him done at 6/8 years and 9/10 million now, they never will afford him after, if he does put it all together, going to be another trouba scenario. So gamble now or prepared to lose him later is the gamble. I believe the only way jets win is with an abundance of 5 million to 8 million dollar players over anybody over 10, kinda like the blues did last year. But we will see, I think jets will be a hungry young team and maybe surprise some people.
