Im okay with missing playoffs this year

Description
Honestly I’d be fine with having a down year. It would actually probably benefit the jets a lot. I’m a jets fan by heart and I’m physically and emotionally prepared to miss playOffs. I’d rather we don’t make any moves and then go big next offseason if we feel we could win.

If buff retires I almost guarantee Jets miss playoffs or just barely scratch and claw in the 5th WC spot. Id like to see Chevy stay calm and not make any moves. We could really benefit from this. Next year we could look at signing hamonic, heinola and samberg could make the jump up. I honestly don’t see jets missing playoffs as a bad thing.

Assuming laine and Connor come back, why is everyone writing off the jets? They’re not bad at all, went to the conference finals 2 years ago and lost to the Stanley cup champions this year. Am I missing something?

honestly wouldn't be bad for the Jets. Get a nice draft pick, get cap space off the board (Kulikov, Beaulieu), and the D-core next year would likely have additions such as Stanley and Heinola. Really not bad at all...

Morrissey, Pionk, Niku, Heinola, Stanley, Poolman. Jets are in a good spot.

If Buff retires that's 4 of their 6 defensemen from last season gone and one of the two left is a 5/6 D guy so it isn't looking good, not exactly a defense group that screams contender anymore.

I honestly don’t think jets have the blue line to get into that playoffs. With this draft being so deep it’s the one year I don’t mind them missing. They’d get a nice pick and a bunch of young guys would step up next year and they could go after a decent UFA in hamonic or someone else.

Yup I agree, I came to terms with this no playoffs reality after last season so this Buff news isn't some shock.. Lol

Worst part of Buff retiring though if it happens is he's such a fan favorite and fun to watch, just seems like a really ****ty way for his career as a Jet to come to an end... ?

Agreed, I love buff and have nothing but respect for him. Honestly it’s almost a blessing in disguise. The jets could be scary good next year depending on young guys growth. But you can never replace buff and what he brings.

Idk, I was hoping he was gonna sign a hometown discount deal for a season or two once this contract was up, he'll still be decent and would help ease some of the kids into the big league.
Just seems like a really ****ty way for things to end.

Agreed it is shi*ty for it to end this way, if it ends like this. I wanted him to resign 2x4 after this contract was up but idk I guess we’ll see what he ends up doing.

Hate to see it if Buff is retiring. But I think this is a really reasonable and sensible response. Stay the course, lock up Laine and Connor long term since they now have cap space. If they were able to sign Hamonic as a ufa, they then have Morrissey-hamonic; samberg-Niku; Stanley-Heinola all as potential players, plus Pionk and Poolman. That would be a pretty decent d core. Forward group would be unchanged, hopefully a little bit more mature and developed

Exactly what I was thinking, I really hope Chevy doesn’t make any dumb trades if buff does retire.
