Description
Well if Buff retires...there are worse things to do than kick tires on Laine.
FWIW if JR had an opportunity to get Laine and passed it up because he was too stubborn to bury JJ...fire him immediately.

Jets decline, they aren't moving Laine to get older, they would want young, quality players back under 25 years old.

Jets don’t just decline. Cheveldayoff blocks Rutherford’s number. Horrible horrible horrible trade for Winnipeg

The pens Defense is so bad it's not even funny. These trades improved it a little bit but not much. Go talk to the Predators about how to male a real defensive core.

way to completely kill the defense here.
Trading Schultz out is not the right more.
On top of it, Laine will never work with Malkin. He doesn't play defense and you have the same mess you had with Kessel there. On top of it, he'll just **** he's not on the 1st line.

Schultz for Faulk is pretty lateral. I’d prefer galchenyuk over Faulk but if we somehow landed Laine I’d be all over it. Laine would score 50 with Malkin. Kessel and malkin worked best together when a speedy defensive winger played with them. (Hagalin). I guess tanev can fill that role. Laine didn’t complain about Being 2nd line. He complained about linemates which is fair. Playing with Bryan little isn’t exactly the same as playing with Malkin

Malkin worked best when a defense man was capable of moving the puck up the ice instead of having a messed up 2nd pairing all year.
This does not help the 2nd pairing at all, it makes it worse.
It does not help that Malkin, who does not want to go back to chase pucks, is tied together with wingers who don't want to do a damn thing on defense.
This does not improve the team. It does indeed make it worse.

It's not like you are moving Galchenyuk and Jugs for him.
You are moving out their 2nd best puck mover and replacing him with someone who does not have that kind of ability.
It's like you live in fantasy land where you think not being able to move the puck up ice to Malkin is going to work. We already know it doesn't and leads to nothing but problems.

Once again... Faulk and Schultz is a lateral move. At least Faulk is healthier. Faulk will be able to move the puck just as effectively as Schultz. Faulk and Laine >>>>> Schultz; galchenyuk, Jugs. This is a dumb argument because this trade will Never happen

Faulk is not a lateral move. Schultz is a guy who can move the puck, put up 50 points.
You also can't fault Schultz for breaking his leg blocking a shot. I mean come on.
On top of it, he's much better in his own end. Which is saying a lot considering he's not great there. But at least he's not finishing -20 every year.

Oh wow!!! You bring up the +/- argument lol. Look at Schultz +/- in Edmonton. Faulk has been on a bad Carolina team for pretty much his career. Schultz put up 50 points once, whereas Faulk has posted 30+ points every year since 2013 (and one campaign of 49 points). They are comparable players. Both offensive top 4 right handed puck moving D. I’d probably take a healthy Schultz Over Faulk, but that’s not the point. What I’m saying is Faulk vs Schultz isn’t THAT big of a difference where ass Jugs / galchenyuk vs Laine is HUGE

you can say the same thing about Laine and AG. what good team has AG been on? Not that I care for either play since they don't play defense. But at least AG will play some defense. Laine don't play any. That's why he can't even get 1st line time on his own team.

As far as good teams, carolina has had good teams over the years that have under performed. 15-16 16-17. Both years the only reason they didn't make the playoffs is because they couldn't close out tight games. On pure wins and loses they actually had more wins! So it's not like he's been on horrible teams. That's just not true.

The biggest knock on galchenyuk is his defence lol. Both Laine and him aren’t defensive forwards obviously but I’ll gladly take 45 goal Laine over 30 goal galchenyuk
